Outsourcing of support services in public sector and the way forward
Outsourcing is rampantly happening in every working sector globally. Workers are losing their job security and benefits due to outsourcing or contract system. This also has widespread in the public service sector. During this pandemic, the issue of contract workers in service sectors exploded. For an example in Malaysia cleaners in the government hospital were not recognized as a frontline staff because these jobs are outsourced or contracted out. This is not only happening in Malaysia, many other countries in the Southeast Asia as well. Therefore, this is a right time for us to come together and discuss this in a forum and build the network among us to fight against this contract system especially in the public service sector.
