Menjelang ulangtahun ke-64 kemerderkaan negara dari penjajah British, golongan pekerja negara kita sedang giat melawan jajahan COVID-19. Dalam keadaan dimana ramai golongan pekerja yang tersungkur sedang cuba memulakan langkah baru membaik-pulih keadaan ekonomi masing-masing, pekerja barisan hadapan seperti doktor, jururawat & tukang cuci terus berkhidmat dengan gigih walaupun pelbagai halangan muncul berpunca dari dalam negara sendiri.
64 tahun selepas merdeka, tiada lagi rakyat Malaysia yang diacukan senjata atau terpaksa mengangkat senjata untuk mempertahankan maruah diri. Tetapi ingin kami bertanya, adakah pekerja kontrak kerajaan seperti tukang cuci, tukang kebun & pengawal keselamatan benar-benar merdeka? Apakah bentuk penjajahan yang masih mereka perlu tempuhi dalam kehidupan mereka hari ini?
Mereka masih dirantai oleh sistem kontrak yang terus membelenggu mereka dalam kemiskinan. Belenggu penghambaan yang menindas mereka masih wujud. Rantai-rantai inimenghalang mereka dari menikmati sebarang kenaikan gaji, jaminan kerja, cuti sakit. Malah, hasil titik peluh mereka disedut oleh parasit-parasit yang mengambil kesempatan keatas kepincangan sistem pengupahan kontrak, memangsakan pekerjayang bekerja keras & ikhlas hanya untuk menyara kehidupan.Pekerja masih belum menikmati kemerdekaan sebenar, selagi belum bebas dari kemiskinan yang disebabkan sistem kontrak!
Sempena ulang-tahun kemerdekaan ini, diharapkan golongan pekerja dapat sedar bahawa kemerdekaan sebenar mestidituntut oleh golongan yang dihambakan, dan golongan penjajah tidak-akan memberi semula kemerdekaan selagi yang dipijakbelum bersatu untuk bangun melawan.
